Western Mahoosuc Ridge Loop
The 13.5-mile loop hike on the Mahoosuc Trail’s western section may lack grand views, but offers a sense of wilderness adventure. Following part of the Appalachian Trail, the route includes steady climbs, diverse terrains, and about 3,900 feet of elevation gain. We hiked a six and a half mile loop at Sunset Rocks and the Appalachian Trail’s historic halfway point in Michaux State Forest, Pennsylvania. The trail offers stunning views and passes the unofficial halfway point of the Appalachian Trail. Starting at Camp Michaux, we explored the CCC camp ruins and enjoyed the trail before returning to our starting point.
