Jeff Senterman grew up in the Hudson Valley and the Catskill Mountains of New York State, spending two summers during his college time as an Assistant Forest Ranger for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation in Greene County, New York. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science with concentrations in geology and biology from Lyndon State College in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom.
After graduating from Lyndon State College, Jeff worked in environmental planning and permitting at the Maine Land Use Regulation Commission, the Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission and Waterman Design Associates.
Following his time in New England, Jeff returned to New York where he was the Senior Program Coordinator for the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference. While at the Trail Conference Jeff was directly responsible for trail programs in the Catskills and oversaw trail programs for the rest of the Trail Conference’s regions.
In the summer of 2015, Jeff joined the Catskill Center for Conservation and Development, where he is currently the Executive Director of the organization. As Executive Director, Jeff leads the Catskill Center on its mission to ensure a bright future for the environment, culture and economy of the Catskills. The work of the Catskill Center includes collaboration across, advocacy for and stewardship of the diverse region.
An avid hiker and outdoorsman, Jeff spends a lot of time exploring in the Catskills, Adirondacks, and New England with his husband Moe, and assisting him with an outdoor guiding company they co-own, Hike on Guides. Jeff and Moe also make up the Hiker Trash Husbands, an online presence promoting LGBTQ+ representation in the great outdoors. They maintain a website, YouTube Channel, and a social media presence.
Jeff currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Catskill Watershed Corporation, appointed by the Governor of New York State as the environmental community’s representative, and also serves on the the Central Catskills Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
