Hiking Schoodic Head: A Scenic Acadia Adventure

Schoodic Head, perched at 440 feet, stands as the highest point on the Schoodic Peninsula within Acadia National Park. This tranquil and less-frequented destination offers hikers sweeping vistas of the Atlantic Ocean, rugged granite cliffs, and dense forests.

We started our journey at the Blueberry Hill parking area. There, we embarked on the Anvil Trail. This trail led us over the Anvil and onward to Schoodic Head’s summit. A short distance north of the peak, a scenic vista rewarded our efforts. It offered unobstructed views of Mount Desert Island, Frenchman Bay, and the surrounding waters. We descended via the Schoodic Head Trail and the Alder Trail, completing a loop back to our starting point. The entire trek spanned approximately 3 miles, with an elevation gain of about 500 feet.

This hike provides a serene and scenic experience, showcasing the natural beauty of Acadia’s less-traveled paths.
