I have been a Board Member of the Catskill Mountain Club for almost a year now. The club was formed in 2004 and is made up of people who enjoy the Catskill Mountains through hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, canoeing, biking and climbing (or anyone who enjoys the park in a non-motorized way). The organization has helped sponsor the annual Catskill Mountains Lark in the Park celebration since 2004. In addition to providing recreational opportunities, the club is working to build and maintain trails and improving the regional economy by promoting and supporting improved public outdoor recreational opportunities and facilities while still preserving natural resources in the Catskill Park.
As a Board Member, I work to support the club and act as a liaison with the Trail Conference. In the past year our Board of Directors has grown as we seek to expand our membership, offer more activities and work to become an incorporated non-profit organization.
